Wonderful 'breathing technique, voice release, and singing workshop' with The Sombourne Singers!

A huge well done to the lovely Sombourne Singers for taking part in my Singing Workshop! What a fun and expressive time we all had! Welldone! Together, we took a dive into some powerful foundation techniques for singing well:

  • Breathing techniques - how to connect the singing voice to the body-support, how to breath from the diaphragm muscle, how to open and enliven the body, how to breathe in a relaxed yet potent way for singing.

  • Voice release exercises - how to sing with a free feeling in the voice, how to create a sense of space in the throat (soft-pallet activation, relaxed larynx, pharyngeal space), how to have an authentic sound, how to 'let the voice go'.

  • Vocal warm up exercises - how to best warm-up, how to hit the high notes with ease, how to connect the breath to the voice, how to 'visualise' the notes, how to sing with a relaxed throat space, how to sing with resonance.

  • Song work - how to sing as a cohesive group, feeling confident in the group, how to hit the high notes, how to feel the tempo of the song and sing with accurate timing. Having fun!

It was a joy to work with you, thank you for having me to you beautiful St Peter & St Paul Church. And an especially big thank you to my good friend, and wonderful singer, for setting up this voice workshop - John A.

Happy singing everyone!
